Little Known Tips To Buying Fitness Equipment

2009Sep4

Did you know that buying fitness equipment for your home isn’t really that difficult?

It’s true that the world of fitness equipment can seem like a maze at times and that there are literally hundreds of different types of fitness equipment pieces that might work well for your home arrangement.

However, with a little guidance, the process really isn’t that hard and you will be amazed at the bargains you can find if you just dig a little deeper than the average consumer is usually prepared to.

Let’s look at some tips to help you in your quest for new fitness equipment.

1. Look at used equipment.
This is where some good deals can be found. Fitness equipment can obtain a weird status in a person’s home. They might have been really excited to buy it initially and dreams of a fit body and monthly gym savings might have filled their head.

However, after 3 months, the equipment often sits vacant in that person’s home. Used equipment can be a really good deal due to the fact that it’s often times almost as good as new but now it’s for sale. To you. For cheap. Check out newspapers, Ebay, and other places; compare prices and get a deal.

2. Consider commercial fitness equipment.
Often times, you can buy the same equipment that your local gym has.

Imagine, you can have that same (gasp!) Stairmaster that has dogged you for years at the local Ballys, right in your basement. This might be appealing to some who have the capital to invest in a large piece of equipment. If you no longer have to pay a $50 monthly fee to go to a gym each month, this might be a really smart investment.

So look into commercial equipment, you might be pleasantly surprised.

3. The first two points are almost worthless…
without considering the financing of your new fitness equipment.

When considering financing your new set of fitness equipment there are tons of important factors to keep in mind. You really don’t want to be paying too much for equipment that might be found at a cheaper price (after everything is considered) elsewhere.

3 More Healthy Eating Weight Loss Tips

2009Aug19

Were you here yesterday?

If you were, you’ve already read our 2 tips for healthy eating connecting your weight loss. If you missed them, I’ll wait until you get caught up.

Here are the three tips that accompany the two from yesterday:

Tip # 3 ~ Walk or take the stairs instead of an elevator. This is a terrific weight loss exercise you don’t even notice the extra effort. Something as simple as a few extra steps every day can go a long way where weight loss is concerned.

Such as, the next time you go to the store, park in the middle of the parking lot and walk to the store. Avoid parking in the closest spot to the door, which is tempting, but opt to walk instead.

Tip # 4 ~ You don’t necessarily have to cut out all of your favorite foods, but you should eat them in moderation. There is no single food that will completely hinder your weight loss attempt but, if consumed excessively, it may.

For instance, simply limit your intake to one candy bar or, if you are being really careful, a miniature candy. There is no reason to cut out your favorite food when a conservative amount of the things you love can still have a place in your life, including during the times that you are focusing on weight loss.

Tip # 5 ~ Whatever your exercise routine, set aside a certain time each day to do it. Individuals who set a routine are much more likely to stay with it and find success than those who simply exercise whenever they have time.

The goal to successful weight loss is to make time.

Or, you may simply go online here —->>>> to pick from one of the many FITNESS selections to help speed along your healthy eating weight loss.

Healthy Tips To Weight Loss

2009Aug18

Are you like a lot of us… caught up in the fascination with weight loss; some for health reasons and others for cosmetic?

No matter the reason, many people try harsh diets that never work, extreme exercise regimens that result in injuries or other weight loss programs that end without success. The reason that none of these weight loss methods seems to work is because in order to stay with a program, you have to enjoy it. Not only that, but it has to be safe as well.

Below are 2 genuine tips to weight loss, which almost anyone can do without tossing out their favorite food or spending every spare minute in the gym.

Realistically, any weight loss program will take time. If anyone promises you different, they are either not being completely honest or are simply uninformed.

Follow one single weight loss program for 30 days, whatever it may be, and see if you have results. If not, move on to something else. In the meantime, check out several tips to getting started today.

Tip # 1 ~ Walking. If you can set aside 30 minutes every day to enjoy a leisurely stroll, you will be strengthening your legs and your heart while burning some calories in the process.

Tip # 2 ~ Use a mini-cycle. These portable little exercise units offer the look of bicycle pedals set up on a metal bar, but without the high price or weight of a standard exercise bike. With a mini-cycle, you can pedal at your desk, on the couch or anywhere else that you can sit comfortably and reach the pedals.

You can also simply go online here —->>>> to pick from one of the many FITNESS selections.

Movin’ and Mixin’ It Up

2009Jul25

If you’re like me, you either know someone who’s struggled with being overweight, you’ve been there yourself or you’ve spent a lot of trying to find a way to add exercise into your daily, or at least weekly, routine.

As you know, obesity is one of the most dangerous conditions one can have.

Further, obesity affects over 40% of the entire US population and the problem is spreading to other parts of the world. This is because we live in a society where there is little time to exercise. We also compound the problem by eating high calorie diets and do little or no exercise.

Obesity is termed as a condition where the body accumulates more fat than it actually needs thereby creating a health risk.

Obesity is measured in what is called BMI or the body mass index which is the amount of weight in relation to height. A BMI of 25 or more is considered overweight.

Obesity may appear like a trivial thing but it actually kills close to half a million people in the US alone. But many people have become determined that in the year 2009, they will lose the extra weight and be on their way to a leaner and healthier body.

But what exercises can one undertake to burn fat

One of the best exercises to burn fat is walking. This means that one need not necessarily enroll in a gym. Walking can be done by round the block, along the road or just make it a habit to walk for short distances instead of driving. For those who live in the country this can be an extra time out to meditate and even clear your mind, not to mention that it can be good for sightseeing.

Another exercise that is related to walking is jogging.

So, get good running shoes and make it a habit to jog just half a mile every morning. And if you live in the country, this can be an ideal way to clear your mind in readiness for the day. If you are an older person, it’s probably best to consult with your doctor before you begin.

Enrolling in a gym is also another way you can lose weight easily.

Exercises such as bench presses can work mightily in helping you shed those excess pounds especially because in a gym there are others like yourself that can motivate you.

If you have belly fat issues, which are almost always the case when someone is struggling with obesity, simple daily sit ups can go a long way to ensure you lose those pounds. This, coupled by good eating habits, can put you well on your way to shrinking your belly and lose fat.

It is recommended that before you do some of these exercises, you consult your doctor or chiropractor because some people might have bone structure issues, especially if one is struggling with arthritis.

Another one of the best exercises to lose weight is to go to a sports store and purchase an exercise machine.

In many of these stores there are capable staff that can help you with any questions you might have and help you make the purchase for the exact machine you need.

Or, you can simply go here —->>>> online to pick from one of the many FITNESS selections.

Things You Can Learn From A Two-Year Old

2009Jul10

…other than breakdancing!

Have you seen the latest video on YouTube that’s getting lots of hits…the one with the little babies on skates breakdancing?!

If you ask any child about the adults around them, they’d probably say we’re a little wacky and seem to be stressed out a lot of the time.

Here are a few simple things they can teach us…

1. Nap when you’re tired.

2. Eat when you’re hungry.

3. Don’t starve yourself, it makes you tired and cranky. Eat little bits often to keep fueled up.

4. Stubbornly refuse to eat even one more bite once you’re full. If you’re full after a few bites, gleefully throw the rest away.

5. Leave the table with a satisfied, full belly and an eagerness to dive back into your delicious life.

6. Be picky and only eat foods you love. If it doesn’t taste great to you, clamp those lips shut and refuse to eat until something better is found.

7. Be in awe over how amazing and wonderful your body is. Notice how it moves, hugs, plays, loves, heals, and enjoys life.

8. Run, jump, skip, play. Move your body because it’s so much fun and it feels good. Be amazed at all the incredible physical things your body can do.

9. Wear clothes that are comfy and that make you feel good.

10. Appreciate the people around you for who they are rather than for how they look.

11. Hang out with fun, friendly people and stay away from mean, critical ones.

12. Feel great about yourself because, well, why wouldn’t you?

If you don’t have a two-year old around right now, find one as quickly as you can and watch them for a day.

Their simple enjoyment of life, and their absolute respect for their own bodies is something to aspire to.

And see information here about weight loss as a grown up.

Managing Time? Easy Peasy!

2009Mar31

Everyone wants to do it!

Managing time is one of those elusive things that’s the least-mastered. It’s also America’s “most wanted” skills in these times of lives-in-motion faster than a speeding bullet.

If only you had a couple hundred more hours in your day, you have a whole list of things you’d do.

Managing 200 or so hours daily might not exactly be feasible, though.

Here’s where I might suggest a Virtual Assistant might be of help.

But I won’t!

Finding solutions to DOUBLE your time management ways is simple enough, if you follow the ideas in this “two-part series”.

We provide some suggestions that you consider doing as soon as you finish reading:

1) Remove the chaff from the wheat

Time wasters are things that separate you from your regular schedule. You do them, even though they interrupt your train of thought and even though you really would not usually choose to do them.

Ridding these time wasters from your daily routine is critical to managing your time

• Email–Spending more than 30 minutes a day on email, collectively answering, reading, saving, filing, even deleting (unless it’s for your business) uses more time than necessary.

• Telephone–Listening to and responding to multiple rings alone with live calls more than 5 times a day, during the day, are a major time waster.

Oh, you don’t sit and count the number of rings before you pick up? What is it now, 2, 3, 10 at most?

Answering the phone interrupts the flow of what you’re doing; it kills your productivity. And, sometimes you might lose your place in your work and have to start over. Oh, the bother!

That’s it for today.

Stop back here Friday, to get the “rest of the story” on “easy, peasy” Time Management.

In the meantime, give these others a try.

It’s about that “R” thing

2009Feb28

And so we have a “Recession”

In the last several days, we’ve discussed options to think about in these difficult economic times. Today’s post looks at it from the standpoint of an employer and a customer.

Add Value to Your Employer and Your Customers

If you’re an employee and you want to keep your job secure, then start looking for ways to increase your value to your employer. If your employer needs to cut jobs, he or she will first cut those jobs that are not adding to the company’s bottom line.

Your employer is not in business to pay you a salary and give you health benefits. Your employer exists to make money….period. (This is arguably true, even if your employer is in the non-profit field).

So, are you helping your employer make money? If not, you will be among the first to get the pink slip.

If you’re a business owner, this applies to your customers.

Are you adding value to your customers?

In tough economic times, individuals and families look for things to cut. They will first cut those things that they don’t need and/or don’t really want. If they think they can do without your products and services, then, when times get tough, you’re gone.

You can keep the money rolling in during a recession by continuing to add value.

Our fifth and final tip about Recession will be posted tomorrow. In the meantime, this article may also be of interest.

Is It or Isn’t It? A Recession – Tip 2

2009Feb27

We started this discussion yesterday, so here’s your second tip to considering a recession.

Study Supply-and-Demand

As you study the economy, pay close attention to the supply-and-demand dynamic. It’s the underlying foundation to any economy.

For instance, the main reason auto manufacturers are teetering on the edge of collapse is simply because the DEMAND for their products isn’t sufficient to meet their supply.

As a result, the auto companies are losing money. A company can only make money so long because the demand for its products and services pays for the cost of its supplying those products and services — and does so to the point where it turns a profit.

Sop back tomorrow for another tip. In the meantime, this little bit of reading might help.

Hmmm! Lots to think about.
